CEO Tomi Some fun of Unity Bank, said in a statement last week that Unity bank, which is one of the banks for disbursement of CBN’s Anchor Borrowers’ program for farmers, will this year support 120,000 Maize farmers during the Maize production season.
The Anchor Borrowers program (ABP) in which more than 3.8 million farmers have benefited so far and 554.61 billion nairas have been distributed to beneficiaries was launched as far back as 2015. This has puts lots of smiles to the faces of Nigeria Farmers.
This year’s plan comes at a time when President Buhari announced in March 2021 that he had approved 600 billion nairas for this year’s rainy season and food security.
The plan is part of federal government initiatives aimed at trashing poverty, food insecurity, improving the livelihood of Nigerians, developing the oil-based economy, creating jobs for Nigerian youths, and reducing poverty.
