How To Apply For The GRFD Minuteman Scholarship Program?
- Meet the eligibility requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a high school senior or equivalent.
- Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA in college.
- Meet all Army ROTC physical fitness standards.
- Be accepted to a college/university with an ROTC program.
- Complete the ROTC Contracting Packet:
- This packet includes the scholarship application. Nomination letter. Other required forms.
- You can find the packet on the Army ROTC website or through your local ROTC unit.
- Obtain a nomination letter:
- You will need a nomination letter from your current NG/Reserve commander or an ROTC recruiting officer.
- Those who are not currently serving in the NG or Reserve will be required to work with a local NG/Reserve recruiter. Identify a unit commander who is willing to accept you as a Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) candidate.
- Complete the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) and Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB) medical examinations:
- You must be qualified for both the MEPS and DODMERB exams.
- You can schedule your MEPS exam at your local recruiting station.
- You can schedule your DODMERB exam online or through your local ROTC unit.
- Conduct a scholarship interview with the ROTC Recruiting Officer:
- This interview will assess your motivation. Leadership Potential. Commitment to serving in the Army Reserve.
- Upon completion, your file will be reviewed and presented before a scholarship board:
- The scholarship board will make a recommendation to the ROTC brigade commander.
- If approved, an application will be submitted to the 4th ROTC Brigade Commander for verification:
- The 4th ROTC Brigade Commander will make the final decision on scholarship awards.
- You will be required to sign a scholarship agreement if approved:
- This agreement will outline your obligations as a scholarship recipient.
