Rice farmers in Ekiti state have received Farm inputs worth #820 million under the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria Anchor Borrowers Programme. This was disclosed by the state’s commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Olaide Adetoyi.
He said one heater of land in a cluster was allocated to each of the benefiting farmers on payment of #21,000.
According to Agromature, it was stated by the commissioner at Aisegba- Ekiti in Gbonyin council area of the state during a visit to different farms.
He also mentioned that some inputs were given to the beneficiaries such as Seed, rice selective herbicides, pre, and post-emergence Chemicals, Organic and inorganic fertilizers, knapsack sprayers, Pesticides, and water pimping machines all worth #264,400.
The Commissioner said the initiative was in fulfillment of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s promise to increase security and make the state top in rice production in Nigeria.IFAD to support Rural Businesses
Dr. Olabide Adetoyi advised farmers who wish to participate in the government’s agricultural scheme to register with the Ministry of Agriculture to access the various opportunities from the Fayemi administration.
